I am a lover of fragrance and I am for sure a sucker for a pretty bottle! But did you know some perfumes contain animal derivatives? Nor did I! Now although I am not a vegan I am trying to use only cruelty-free and more vegan cosmetics and beauty products.
Now you may remember my review of an Eden Vegan Perfumes fragrance that I received in my October Cruelty-Free Beauty Box. Well, I loved that fragrance so much I reached out to Eden to see if they would be interested in a collaboration! The, of course, said yes and sent me three beautiful fragrances to try out!
So Who Are Eden?
I probably touched on this in the last post I did about them but oh well! So Eden is run by a vegan family from the south coast of England. They create beautiful smelling perfumes that are completely cruelty-free and vegan! A lot of their fragrances will smell similar to well-known designer fragrances. But obviously, they may smell a little different because Eden does not use ingredients that come from animals!
What They Sent Me!
During our conversations over email, they asked me what well-known perfumes I love. The first fragrance that came to my head was Black Opium by YSL. I also let them know that I love any perfumes that contain Patchouli as a note! From this rather vague information, they sent me one of their lovely gift boxes containing three 10ml fragrances.
So this is their version of Viktor and Rolf’s Flower Bomb. It has top notes of Bergamot and Tea. Middle notes of Jasmine, Freesia and Orchid. And base notes of Centiflora, Rose and Patchouli. This is a super floral fragrance that I’m not overly sure if I love. I’m more of a fruity girl but floral scents are growing on me!
Now, this is a Chanel dupe!!! I recently fell in love with Chanel’s newest fragrance Gabrielle so I was excited to smell this one! So this fragrance is supposed to smell like Mademoiselle. I have fallen in love with this one!!! It has top notes of Orange, Mandarin Orange, Orange Blossom and Bergamot. Middle notes of Rose, Cyclamen, Water Lily, Peony, Jasmine and Violet. Base notes of Tonka Bean, Vanilla, Vetiver, Sandalwood, Orchid, Iris and Musk.
They did it! They sent me their Black Opium Dupe!!! And I am glad to report that it does in fact (drum roll please) smell just like that super expensive, overpriced perfume I love so very much! So this fragrance has top notes of Pink Pepper, Orange Blossom and Pear. Middle notes of Coffee and Jasmine. And Base notes of Vanilla, Patchouli and Cedar.
Why You Need It In Your Life!
Unfortunately, many designers are still not cruelty-free or still use ingredients that are either tested on animals or are obtained from animals in a cruel way. In my opinion, this sort of activity should no longer be taking place within the beauty or cosmetics industry. Secondly, Eden Perfumes are a hell of a lot cheaper than the designer counterparts. Not only will you saving yourself a small fortune you are supporting a small business! Eden will also refill your bottle with any fragrance you like meaning you are also being sustainable!
Would you switch to Vegan Perfumes? Or do you already use vegan perfumes? Let me know in the comments!
