Dear Santa…Love Aimee

Dear Santa,

2017 has been a bit of a rollercoaster and it’s not even over yet. From moving out of my parents’ house to being in work whilst the shop got flooded, 2017 has definitely been an unforgettable year. However, 2017 has also been a year where I’ve learnt that it’s better to do things alone, take care of myself and really stop depending on other people altogether for support. I’ve been messed around a lot in the last year, and I’ve not always been taken seriously in regards to certain situations which have arisen. Yet, this hasn’t prevented me from being there for others when they need it most because I know what it is like to not be listened to or have that extra support. If anything, 2017 has been the year where I’ve discovered the real magic of life.

You know all of this though. You’ve been busy preparing the Naughty and Nice lists for this year since last Christmas. Just please don’t question some of the Christmas song choices on my playlist…. I’m sure we don’t want Mrs Claus to find out the reason why you’re so happy (Thank you Scouting For Girls for potentially getting me into trouble with your Christmas songs!!). However, there is a little bit of Christmas in the air* which adds to the magic of Winter. I just feel like the true spirit of Christmas is lost amongst all of the money-making schemes. It seems to be more about the extravagant gifts and the fancy Christmas trees rather than the things that matter most. Friendship. Love. Family. Quality time spent together with those who matter most. I know that there are a lot of people out there who have no one to spend Christmas with, and that breaks my heart. Christmas is supposed to be about bringing people together, not abandoning those who don’t have anyone.

Santa, I would love it if you could help me out with one thing. Now I’m not asking for books (shock horror!!) or any form of gifts because this year I don’t want any of that. My Christmas wish is for a gift to be given to those who can’t afford them, and to make those without anyone to spend Christmas with a smile. I want people to remember the real magic of Christmas and to keep believing in the true Christmas spirit. I’ll be making sure that I do my bit this Christmas to make at least one person smile and let them know that they are loved.

I hope you’ll help me spread the best magic possible to help make others smile this Christmas,

Aimee Louise x

*PS. Christmas in the Air (tonight) is my all time favourite Scouting For Girls Christmas song, so please forgive me.
